Project Type: Concrete Floor Installation and Grading for Barn
Location: Shelbyville, Indiana (Shelby County)

Description:
Dust, dirt, and mud can be a common problem for fairgrounds with 4H animals. The Shelby County Fairgrounds in Indiana faced this challenge head-on when they decided to turn their hog barn’s dirt floors into concrete floors.
The first step was hauling and delivering 1200 tons of stone as the base for the concrete flooring. This stone serves as a base for the concrete and prevents any shifting or settling of the floor over time. To ensure that it was properly laid, Indy Enviroworks used laser leveling technology to make sure that the stone was precisely placed at an even depth throughout the entire area.
Once the foundation was laid, it was time to install 850+ yards of concrete flooring. This process involved preparing and pouring several different layers of concrete. First, we poured a layer of fiber-reinforced concrete that is designed to help resist cracking in extreme weather conditions such as freezing temperatures or summer heat waves.
All together these layers create an incredibly strong foundation for the improved barn space with 4H animals. The end result is a durable floor that is easy to clean up after events and keeps the barn looking great all year long.
