Description:
Indy Enviroworks recently completed a tank removal and decontamination project for Omar Bakery. The job included excavation, tank pumping, and cleaning, tank removal, and hauling, as well as the remediation and removal of petroleum-impacted backfill material.
Omar Bakery had an old abandoned Aboveground Storage Tank (AST) that was used for the storage of heating fuel. It had been out of use for some time but needed to be removed before any further damage could be done. This posed a difficult challenge since the tank was located under 3 ft of concrete, making it virtually impossible to access without using special equipment.
We used our state-of-the-art radar inspection technology to locate the exact location of the tank beneath the concrete slab. This allowed us to plan for its successful extraction without compromising safety or damaging any surrounding infrastructure. Once we had located the appropriate area for excavation, we began the process of removing the tank from its resting place beneath 3 ft of concrete. We finished the project with pump-out and cleaning services before finally hauling away all contaminated materials including petroleum-impacted backfill material which had been collected during the excavation process.
